Default Re: FAL Flex-a-lite Radiator Fan Wiring?

I have the same FAL fan controller in my car.

Just to warn you, replace the inline fuse wire with a higher quality one. I melted many fuses in the one from FAL (they even have a warning about it on their site)

Spend the extra $5 at O'rilly's, autozone, etc. for a heavy duty inline fuse controller and drive worry free.

Good to know, thanks for the tip.
What exactly is a "heavy duty inline fuse controller"? Is that just the fuseable link you're talking about that comes in the kit?

I had to use at least 10 guage wire and a 25 amp fuse when I had these wired to a switch on my old car.

As far as getting the fans to come on as soon as possible do I need to move the temp sensor closer to the headers?

yes that would get them to go on sooner(moving it closer to header). mine comes on after engine runs for approx 5 mins and ususally stays on till i turn car off. i forget sometimes im in ak and your air is hotter down there. hell weve only seen 70+ 3 days this year. coldest summer on record so far. let us know if it helps! j sin

It actually said "Heavy Duty" on the package. haha

It looks almost identical to the one that the controller comes with, just a little beefier.

Here was my thread talking about it.

In line fuse melting (stand alone fan controller / Fuel Pump Hot Wire)

My temp prob is located just under the intake side of the radiator. So it will read the hottest fluid coming in.

Even in stopped rush hour traffic and triple digits outside she has stayed at ideal temps. Fans are loud though.

I moved it about 3 inches away from the header. Just trying to keep this thing cool. I put the Titan headers in and back to the old overheating again. Threw on a high pressure radiator cap, 1.5 bar, then it started leaking around the water lines on the turbos. Guess I'll have to put worm clamps on them. Thing is that the top water hose going to the radiator has nearly zero clearance from the header. I threw some heat wrap around the hose. Anyways, got it where it only wants to heat up during the middle of the hot day. Night time running is fine as well as morning and evening.

I am also from Alaska and use AC alot in the summer. I grew up here so I like it cooler than the average bear. Sorry for the highjack, not many Alaska folks on here.

I don't think that's actually doing anything. If the engine is off then the water pump is also off meaning that you're only cooling what's still inside the radiator. However, none of that gets back into the engine until you turn it back on so having the fans on while the car is off just wastes battery power. This is what turbo timers are for.
