I searched for this and still searching, but no luck yet. How do you wire the flex-a-lite fans to run somewhat like stock? I would rather just wire them to run as the one big (passenger) side fan runs. Also if there is a way to wire the fans to just come on when the car is running that would be fine too. I could just use a switch for them, but would rather keep it simple and automatic like stock.

i spiced both sets of NEW fan wires together(red,red/blk,blk). remove the molex/conector at the top left of OLD fans(as installed). it has 4 wires in a shroud. (blk-stripe,blue-stripe/black,blue)the striped wires lead to temp sensor. zip tie the temp sensor to the fans, away from header. the other 2 wires are: blue=hot and black is ground. this eliminates the ac sensor and is very easy to do, use heat shrink as it might get wet someday. once you follow this you could easily wire the ac fan to it seperately. but to me more cooling is more power! j sin

Is the AC sensor in the thermostat housing? With the striped wires could I just leave them unhooked. How about using the large fans wiring, so the fans come on at the stock preset temp. If you have a picture or two that would help too. See where you mounted the wiring and tied into the stock setup. Thanks!

one fan is run by temp sensor. the other goes when ac is on. i have never once used my ac so i wired both to go on at same time(im sure you will want this). if you leave the stiped wires unhooked the car will never know if it needs to turn the fans on, can you say big problem?! this method get both fans working with stock sensor and has high and low.
when i said molex/connector i mean the stock wireing harness with temp sensor. j sin |

i have mine wired with a fan controller from flexlite like this.
Flex-a-lite Variable Speed Control - JEGS You can set what temp the fans will come on. You can also wire in a switch to manually start the fans. I have mine set so when I shut off my car the fans run until the temp goes down. You can set it so the fans shut off when you shut off the engine.

I wired it like the your pic gltasn. I can't see the exact engine temp, you know stock guage, but it appears the fans don't come on unless I turn the AC on. Took it for a five mile spin to get it warm, let it idle for a while too. Would moving the temp sensor closer to the headers make the fans come on earlier? I would like them to run all the time. I can just use a switch if all else fails. However if positioning of the temp sensor would affect anything, then the would be great.

The temp sensor was easy as nothing requires wiring on it. I attached the power to power (Red on Blue) and ground to ground wires (Black on Black). Are the fans supposed to come on the instant you start the car or does it have to warm up to a specific temp for this type of setup?

Awesome! Has automatic variable speed control and even taps into AC system so you can duplicate oem setup.
Ordering mine today from Summit as I have a $30 off coupon. ![]() Quote:
