Default An end to the GTR vs. C6 Z06 debate, round 2.

On a track with corners, at least...sorry couldn't resist

In the latest Top Gear episode The Stig managed a 1.19.7 2.7 seconds faster than the Z06 around the very fast Top Gear track, quite impressive.

1:17.3 – Ascari A10
1:17.6 – Koenigsegg CCX (with "Top Gear Spoiler")
1:18.4 – Pagani Zonda F
1:18.9 – Maserati MC12
1:19.0 – Ferrari Enzo
1:19.5 – Ariel Atom 2 300
1.19.7 - Nissan GTR
1:19.7 – Ferrari 430 Scuderia
1:19.8 – Porsche Carrera GT
1:19.8 – Lamborghini Murciélago LP640
1:20.4 – Koenigsegg CCX [6]
1:20.7 – Ascari KZ1
1:20.9 – Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren
1:21.2 – Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano
1:21.9 – Ford GT
1:22.3 – Ferrari 360 Challenge Stradale
1:22.3 – Porsche 911 GT3 RS
1:22.4 – Chevrolet Corvette Z06

Forward to 8:20 if you want to just see the lap time.

I thought we pretty much agreed that ZO6 faster in straight line and GTR faster in the corners already. I guess I can watch people argue over something they agree about again.

lol. it's funny. i wonder if it costs more money to make a gt-r as fast in a straight line as a zo6; or to make a zo6 corner/handle as well as a gt-r.

either way, they are still both great cars. though if i were going to get one for a DD...it'd be the GT-R by a mile. i like accoutrement.

I'll answer then, good tires on the Z06. It should atleast match the GTR in cornering ability.

I agree with you 100%, unfortunately a lot of people don't. And the GT-R has beaten the Z06, in every single test thus far...on a track that is.

Anyway I just thought some 3si people would enjoy the video.

I think the Z06 will win that battle, as JasonY said, a good set of tyres and the Z06 is going to even things up fast (with a great driver).

But it would be close, with just a modified ECU, everything else stock, the GT-R ran an 11.1 first time at the track.

RE070's are significantly better than the GY runflats on the Z06 top it off with a fansastic AWD system, gonna be hard to chase down in a very light, veyer powerful rwd car with even talented drivers behind the wheel.

Bone stock Z's have gone 10's in the 1/4 and bolt on Z's run low 10's over 130mph. Add a aggressive cam, not much of anything will be able to keep up.
