Default E85 and Switching Tunes

I've been interested in E85 for a while now but there are only a few stations in my area that carry it so I kind of ruled it out as a possibility for now.

However, I just remembered that with an SAFCII, can't you have two separate tunes to switch between? So you could have a 93 tune and an E85 tune? I know when you switch you won't be exactly on since you'll have a little of the old gas left, but if you needed to get gas right then it wouldn't be the end of the world.

What kind of power/boost/injectors can a single Walbro handle running E85? How about a hotwired Walbro?

I've heard that ehtanol is bad for your lines/fuel filter but then other people say it is a myth. I know most gas has 10% ethanol in it now, but if it does deteriorate lines/fuel filters a higher concentration of it has to be worse.

How many of you guys run this stuff a lot on stock lines/filter?

Someday I will do a tech writeup on how I'm flex fuel on AEM with a dipswitch (thank you 3r Tech).

1 hotwired walbro wasn`t nearly enough for me on td04-16g`s with 780`s (they were probably too small as well..).

To prevent fuel cut you`ll have to put bigger injectors in there, then you`ll be worse off on the petrol tune due to the bigger corrections causing high timing.

Emanage Ultimate can switch maps, at injector level and that would be seemless between petrol and E85.

Yes please, educate us with your vast knowledge.
Dual mapping AEMs has been going on since before you knew AEM existed.Hell, I have been doing it twice as long as you have been here.

The biggest concern in your fuel system from ethanol will be the paper element filter. Replace it with an aftermarket filter with a stainless steel element and you are good to go. Cars were mandated to handle alcohols in fuel for many years now. Your other components will be fine.

Any aftermarket stainless fuel filter will work? Or is there a specific one?

I've also been thinking about going to 13gs and 550cc injectors on E85

Any aftermarket filter with a replaceable element you can swap in an SS element will work.

So what I'm curious about is if I take a bone stock 3000gt, what all do I have to do to make E85 work?

For e85, you need 30ish% more fuel so you're going to need bigger fuel injectors, a higher capacity fuel pump, and a fuel controller of some sort. Chris is the resident expert, so if you have any in-depth questions, I'll leave them to him.

If you live in really cold climates (which means you can't get E85 year round anyway as they change to E70) You better have really good ignition (HKS twin power) and a stong (new) battery as the ethanol can not vaporize at low temps (below 55F) like gasoline can.

With an AEM you can dick around with the staring params and make it start like a gas car though.
