Default Dragging SPEC II, not sure why

Hi,

I recently installed new SPEC 2 clutch and now I have a hard time getting into the 1st gear. Problem only exists with engine running and it looks like clutch not fully disengaging problem. Car wants to move forward a bit when I am trying to shift into the first. Here is what I did so far.

Bled the system, replaced master/slave and rubber line, adjusted the pedal. Problem still there.

I thing I did not do (it was very stupid of me) was to replace or resurface flywheel during the clutch swap. My friend said that it looked ok and it had only 20K on it so I though I would be ok. Can a bad (eneven) flywheel cause clutch disengagement issues?

Any other suggestions?

Thanks

could be the clutch. I've seen alot of pos spec stage 2's over the years. I had one eject the springs and lock agaunst the flywheel with only 5k on it, I had a customer car that had the PP collapse. bottom line, they suck

In my case it gets worse after I drive for a while, when clutch gets warm.

If you verified that the clutch slave cylider is always fully depressing the release fork then you have a problem inside the bellhousing.

With engine off - yes. With engine on, I am not sure how to reach it. So much stuff in the way.

When you barely press the clutch just before the point of disengagement with the engine running do you feel any throbbing? I to had a spec 2 lose some spring, and another that lasted a long time. I think the disks are easily warped on install. The one that was installed with a tranny jack didn't last. The one i used a hoist to install lasted.

Can you explain the hoist installation? How did you do it? Was it 1 man job?

Thanks,

Yeah, it's a one man method. Put the car up on jackstands as high as they go. Install the clutch. Put the tranny on a small cart, and wheel it under the engine bay. Then you thread 2 bolts into where the shift linkage bolts up, use that as the hoist point. Hoist away. With a tranny jack it took me forever to line up the shaft and spin the tranny on, that hump is a bitch. With a hoist it took less than 5 minutes to line up the splines and slide the tranny on.

I tried adjusting clutch pedal and it did not do a thing. I adjusted it from the extreme out to the middle position with no change in how gears engage. I still have hard time getting into 1st and it gets worse after driving around for a while.

Some times when I cruise to a stop in 1st with clutch pushed in, the clutch does not want to disengage and the car pull forward even at idle and I hear weird scraping noise from the clutch area. This does not happen often though, maybe once every 1-2 days of driving.
