Default Does my front manifold look cracked to you?

Pics left in their original 8MP size on purpose. Shawn (AlmosN8kd) and I just got done pulling both of my stock turbos when we noticed this. I just wanted someone else's opinion on this before deciding what to do. I'd really rather not pull the mani off of the car if I don't have to (the whole Murphy's Law thing) but I will if somebody that knows more than I do thinks it's best.

Thanks

-Rob

yes, i would say it appears cracked.

my front manifold cracked in almost the exact same location, altho it was a bit more egregious

i did some digging and found other folks had the same cracks. this led me to purchase a new manifold from mitsu instead of putting a used one on. it's not a ton of money, ~$200 if i recall correctly.

Wouldn't you see black soot from exhaust blowing through? Unless it happened when the turbo was removed.

mine had no soot around an egregious crack 3/4 of the way around the manifold and it was there prior to turbo removal. i suspect it was there and growing for some time before it got bad enough to make itself known, even then i drove the car perhaps 50 miles back to the shop before i replaced it... it had to make itself known at a training exercise 50 miles from the shop

no carbon tracing at all.

Doesn't look cracked to me. This is what mine looked like. I just had it welded up which was easy.

mine did not crack into the tubing, it cracked all along the seam 3/4 of the way around. after i had the manifold out i checked it out completely and there were hairline cracks at other seams as well.

I bought a new one because metal becomes brittle after too many heat cycles and it was cheap. I would have gotten mad at myself if it got another leak soon after.

All I see is some a-hole making me look real closely at a picture of him flicking me off.

before you remove manifold, make sure and let some bolt antisieze soak on them studs overnight. they are so rusted they could break. you dont want that! j sin
