My TPS sensor wanders out every month or so. I have the same problems you were having, my ISC was fine ( I tried 3). I'm going to put one more vote in for TPS. I set mine back to .60V and all is great. No more bucking, descent idle.

yeah..i need to get a logger so I can thoroughly look at stuff like that...the car is getting put away for winter..next year i'm gonna have to get a logger..

as far as those who said about being able to maintain the car...well you see..some of us have more things in our lives other than our car..ya know, school, musical instruments, record collections, motorcycles, and oh..what's that called...tastes really good after dinner...hmmm...puh...puh....pu$$Y!!!! that's it...i always forget about that one..

I did have the ECU checked for leaky caps the first time it started idling weird..i'll have to check into the TPS....didn't think about that....as of now, it's running ok..just as long as i'm able to start it here and there over winter i'll be good til next year....the idle isn't really bad..it's the bucking that drives me nutso..

I assume you had to go counter clockwise a little more with the TPS - will try it this weekend. Thanks for the heads up.

That sounds like a good idea, too. I'll mess around with it and see what happens.

Remember. .60V It's important to be at that or just below...say .50-.60 stealth316.com should have a writeup of how to do this with a multimeter. I use my maftpro, so idk how to do it that way.

thanks for all the good advice everyone...i'm gonna mess around with it some more today...i'm not really sure what you guys mean about adjusting the TPS..i don't really know how...but I guess I can't really do much with the TPS without a data logger neways....how much do one of those run....what all do I need...what kind of palm, software, etc?

Good news, bad news.

I messed with the tps without any tools, just did it. I turned it a bit clockwise, no more jerking or chugging! Woohoo I hoped it wasnt drivetrain...

Bad news, I think my IAC is bad. When the key turns on, it doesnt move. It acts like it wants to, but doesnt. Fried I'm guessing?

I don't know why. There was nothing else I changed, but its been a couple months now and i can cruise in first smooth as silk.

Now if only I could find time away from school to get all my other car problems sorted...
I don't really get a fluctuating idle but there have been times where it seems like it just stopped going down at about 2K and held it there until I put it into gear. Sometimes it idles around 1K on it's own too. Usually it's around 7-800 though. My first gear chugs like crazy if I let off the gas! Is it safe to assume there's something up with my ECU? I can only wish for a nice first gear since it's been nothing but problems. I think I may have a decent vacuum leak but no idea where to start with that.

What is a TPS? Maybe that could be the culprit >_>
