Warning: I'm an asshole
|
I'm not reading this whole thread, but my car idles like a dream.
The fix? A brand new throttle body straight from the dealer. It's $550.00, but is complete and comes with a new IAC, TPS, FIAV, Dashpot, the works.

VICTORY!!!
Well, its been a long battle, but it is over. I have won. I just completed the 60k service, and it runs like a top. Idle is perfect, no chugging in gear. I found the problem: When I took the timing belt off, I marked where the cam gears were compared to the head. Go to put it back together, and the rear head ones were fine. Turns out the front cams were off a couple of teeth. I'm pretty sure it didnt jump it, the belt was too tight when I took it off. The moron kid that had it before me probably just put on a belt, and messed up the timing. Thank goodness he didnt wreck anything. So, if you are having idle/chugging problems, and have checked the easy things, CHECK YOUR TIMING!!!! ![]()

I am with you. Its a waste of time trying to rejuvenate an old unit to make it run like new again. I had 117k miles and just got a new one which made the car run like new again. Sam |
