One Sinister Motha Sucka!
|
Ok, I was talking to the tuner god in Colorado springs at Revolutions Performance. Jeremy. I talked to him about my setup and that I wanted him to put my car on the dyno and tune it for me. He looked at all my mods and everything and basically said that my car is way to much for the safcII to handle. He basically told me that if they tune the car with the safcII that they cannot tell me that it is a safe tune and that I could go play safely with it based on my mods.
His reasoning was that with an safcII i would be adding more timing by lieing to my ECU which is very bad. Basically telling me that if I add more timing, the likely hood of me melting a piston is greater. I just dropped 12K in my engine and I dont want to fuk it up. He told me to ditch the safcII and get an aem standalone. I would in a heartbeat but I just spent 12K!! Does anyone have any truth to this. I have been recommended to get my car tuned by this guy and he talked to me for about 20 minutes strictly about how the safcII works, what it does good, and bad. Told me the emanage-blue is a piece of shit too. I'm actually kinda nervous now. Anyone have a .30 over block with a,, my mods that are in my sig and tuned with an safcII? If so, who has had issues or non-issues?

You should seriously do some more research about your own car and how it works before making a post titled "Do Not Tune With Safcii"
Thousands of people with hundreds of different cars have been using the SAFCII to tune their cars with great success for many years, 3/S cars and their owners included. Your 'tuner' is just upselling, it's a common business practice. People do it to make more money. If you put an AEM in your car, you'll spend more money at his shop because the AEM requires exponentially larger amounts of time to set up and use correctly than an SAFCII, EManage or other piggy back hardware. You don't need an AEM to tune a 13t car with 560cc injectors.

Yes, using the afc will effect your timing.
That said a ton of people here are using the AFCII or a similar unit to control injectors up to 720CC. You do have to be aware of the effect on the timing but you can use the unit. IMO sounds like someone wants an AEM sale.

I wasnt saying dont... my title was supposed to be more of like a wtf?? question thing.
How can I get it tuned if the only awd dyno tuner tells me that he wont? I have my 560's and walbro waiting to go in but i guess I have to wait? |

I have used an S-AFC I for about a year and a half without issue. I just switched to the S-AFC II about a month ago for visual purposes. Switched the tune over to the II and logged the car. Ran exactly the same without issue.

Corn Its whats for boost

SAFC with 560s isn't a problem. Either your tuner is trying to make a sale (AEM) and more tuning money (AEM costs more to tune) or he just don't know.
