With that said, I would be okay with driving it under 50 mph for 50 miles. And don't do anything crazy. |

I drove for over a year with my old SL with one missing lug on two wheels, no problems, make sure the other four are tight and you'll be fine.

They broke a couple of studs on my VR-4 but Discount Tire is pretty good about compenstating you for the labor and price the lug nuts with no hassle.

Broke Ass

This kind of stuff makes me hesitant to bring my car to anyone. I'd rather have them just mount the tires, balance them, and give them to me to put back on the car. Discount really screwed up with my truck. They didn't tighten 2 wheels at all. The lugs were only on by about 3 threads which made for an interesting drive around the parking lot.

I’ve had it happen before, they always take care of you no problem. My discount tire actually had an agreement with a shop down the road and if they stripped/broke one they just called them and sent you down there. The tech had my stud replaced within 15 minutes, not bad I’d say.
It’s just a broken stud, happens fairly often, not something that makes me think twice about taking my car to discount. Now, when they attempt to use the pre-set torque wrench for HD-trucks on my lugs (150+ lb.-ft.) THEN I get worried haha.

Broken Studs are pretty common, especially the older the car gets. It just happens.

![]() I guess it depends on the location. I have had all of my tyres installed by the same location in Mount Prospect with great servise. I still watch them like a hawk though. They use a use an impact with torque sticks then snug up the bolts with a torque wrench...every time. Most shops just impact the crap out of them. When I got my car out of the body shop (why they took my rear wheels off to get at my bumper is beyond me, i didn't need to on install) I had to bust out the 4' breaker bar to get lugs off.

Discounttire picked up the bill for the lug stud repair. However, while removing the rims they damaged yet another stud and were unable to replace it since they had only ordered two 3kgt studs! i'm frustrated. I'm taking the 3kgt to a different (highly recommended) place tomorrow for stud replacement and alignment.
It's been a little frustrating to say the least. |
