was wondering if anybody had ever deleted their charcoal canister and vacuum lines of their 3s with any ill side effects (bad gasoline vapor smells inside the car and what not).
Any noticeable new smells or anything?

NUMEROUS people have done it. Myself included.
The only thing you'll notice it a cleaner engine bay.
Also, search for Vac reduction, it's one of the most common things done.

Just cut the line back at the tank if you really want to rule out the possibility of ever smelling anything.
