Wait, you're using a 96 harness(ODBII) but a 94 engine? How does that work? Did you swap in plenum's with the MAP on top from the 96? Is the car a 96 and the engine (bottom end only? whole longblock?) from a 94? There is the whole 94 = MUTT and 96 ECU = ODBII issue, or am I missing a previous discussion here?

IIRC P0173 is bank 2 fuel trim (lean I think), sounds to me like you have an intermittent lean miss. Do you have a datalogger? If you do post up a log.

Oh, and a semi-educated guess that hasn't been suggested yet: Coil pack. They've been know to fail/weaken and are in the "firing path" so...

Could also be a failing/clogged injector? Thinking out loud here...

I was going to say injector too but the problem is its a random misfire code its going to be hard to find out which cylinder has a problem I would just drive it till it has a cylinder code like p0301-p0306

At least it's telling us the bank # I guess!

It could even be electrical, I've seen a crimped/damaged injector harness wire cause the injector to intermittently not fire, seemed to happen more once the engine warmed up. If the engine has been monkey'd with (94 engine in a 96? engine swapped?) it wouldn't take much to damage a harness wire just enough to cause it to short/open/fail intermittently.

Of course, I could be totally off as well, but it's a possibility.

Coils are new, PTU is NEW, Injectors are cleaned, new Pump, New Fuel Filter. Car runs fine 99% of the time. Idle can be abit rough, things i've noticed, at Idle I've got a Wideband O2, it'll sit happily at 14.7-15.1 then randomly jump to 16.7 area. So random lean misfire. I then checked it with a timing light. The light would also have random stoppage. So it'll be a constantly flashing but randomly and on EVERY spark plug cable it'll stop for a brief moment.

My longblock and heads are from a 94 VR4 engine, 96 Plenum and all extras. It's a Hybrid mix of parts but everything seems to work together fine.

so if it's randomly misfiring on all cylinders (since u tested that with the timing light), then you can start tracing it back from the coils. it's possible u have a faulty safc. since it's intercepting the signal from the maf, if it's telling the ecu there's too much air flow, the ecu will pull fuel. if the safc only does it for a split second, the ecu will have only pulled enough fuel for 1 or maybe 2 cylinders before resuming regular duty cycle. what you can try doing is installing stock 360's and removing the safc and see if that helps. just run wg pressure.

I'll give it a shot but I doubt it'll help for some reason. This issue has occured ever since I TT'd the car.
