Sooo, the best "car" won. Whats the problem with that? The GTR is overhyped. The 911 Turbo, albiet is great, isnt all that.
Id take the M3 over any of them, since i can slip under the radar and still have an excellent performing car. Jason

I don't see how you can lose in every performance category and still win the competition overall. That just means that everything other than performance is being rated, all the subjective things that truly are based on you and yours. Performance isn't though, its clear cut. We start here, ended up over there and either I or you got there first. Nothing to think about or feel, thats just what happened. I know for me thats what I pay attention to in performance comparos, as far as how the car feels, I have to jump in and do that myself, thats what test drives are for. That will be the day when I read how someone else feels to determine how I feel.

I think its unfair to have a driver who is not interested in going around a track faster judge what they like better when one car is RWD and the others really aren't even though they are RW biased. Even if its not faster, there is alot of fun driving a well balanced high power V8 car in rear drive. I drive one to work every day, its a ball. However, Car and Driver should take these cars out on a wet morning and see which car they prefer. I can have alot of fun when its wet out at low speed on my way to work sliding all over the place but get in a situation where your flying down a three lane highway fighting other drivers for open holes to pass the crowd, and you would rather be in a car like the GTR even more then the Porsche which isn't balanced that well for crazy wet slalom driving. All around, the GTR makes a better car if thats what they are looking for. As useful as the BMWs back seat is, blasting up a snow covered mountain road is pretty useful also as well as effortlessly cruising on the highway in a thunderstorm close to triple digit numbers. I know the VR-4 has done it many times and its no GTR.

You could build a Civic to run circles around all 3 of those cars for less money, in every single category.
Raw performance does not make a car, thats what i wish some people would get. Jason |

Same here. That's really the only review I truly care about.
Car & Driver don't really do "performance reviews". They review supercars the same way they review subcompacts, by factoring in everyday-drivability concerns as well as performance. Is this flawed? It depends on your perspective. If you want a good review of the cars as performance cars, look elsewhere. If you want a good review as all-around vehicles, then Car & Driver is a good rag. I can even agree with their opinions of BMWs as most of the time they do possess one of the best combos of real-world-useability, performance, and fun factor for their respective class. But honestly it does upset me a bit because clearly anyone that's purchasing a car with performance as their first priority would take a GT-R over an M3 without a second thought, and unfortunately their reviews never seem to reflect this reality. This isn't anywhere near the most ridiculous review outcome in recent history as far as I'm concerned though. C&D compared the Chevy Trailblazer SS and Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 a few years back. The SS won the comparo by less than a point if I remember right. Which wouldn't bother me at all, except for the fact that the difference in the two vehicles' "gotta have it" score was larger than the margin of victory, with the SS having a point or two higher score. That's right, a completely arbitrary and opinion-based metric decided the outcome. And the crazy part is that without a doubt the Hemi and SRT badges clearly carry more cred than the beyond-over-used SS badge right now, not to mention a Grand Cherokee is considered a more "cool" vehicle than a Trailblazer by every enthusiast I know. So how exactly did the SS have more "gotta have it" factor? Apparently only the C&D editors know. Now that's bias for ya!

I dont think anyone with a brain between their ears would argue that the M3 performs on a track better than the GTR.
Being faster on a track means NOTHING to me, and i wouldnt drive either of my 80k cars in the rain and snow so i dont give a damn about the "crazy wet slalom" driving people do on their way into work. Id be afraid to be near anyone in a car that exceeds the limits of traction of wet roads in packed traffic. If all anyone here cared about was running a track, i think the Vette pretty much owns all of these cars when properly and relatively lightly modified. But i forgot, the interior sucks Might as well completely discount the Vette then.I cant grasp how all these people on here are so GD stuck on raw performance when you own a car that doesnt excell at ANYTHING but being a great all around car. Much like the M3 is a better all around car than the other two cars. I just dont see why whenever 2 or more cars are compared it has to be its 1/4 mile time, its lap time, wtf ever it runs the ring in. Something 1 of ever 500(likey far more) people will even do with these cars. Jason |

With the GTR weighing nearly 3900lbs, I was waiting for a repeat of the infamous: "it feels like I'm driving a whale" comment.
Aparently Nissan figured out what Mitsubishi could not.
