So, 3 weeks ago my car burned up in a fire. The insurance company is still waiting for the fire report! It's actually going on to 4 weeks now. I have been without a car and it's frustrating. I actually found a good 3000gt that I might want to buy. But can't do it until the insurance company gets the fire report. Has anyone had any experience with fires, insurance companies, and fire reports? I mean why does the insurance company need a fire report? They know what happened to it.

they're afraid of being fraud? as a lot of people tend to that to total their cars? then they end up buying something better with the money they get back. always ends up that way. lol.

Get them a fire report.
After dealing with death certificates, I have learned there is nobody to do the work but yourself.

I had to deal with them on hale damage, and still hoping to change the way things go, but doesn't look like it. They are the most stubborn of people, and a little heartless too. xP

They're quick to take money and slow to give it back, get on there ass about not having a car and tell them to get the ball rollin, they will glady jerk you around as long as possible if they think they can get away with it. If they keep dragging there feet then find the number for your state insurance board and give them a call, they have the ability to hold them over the coals.

Allstate is the WORST to deal with.
My 240SX was totalled in a crash. The dealer let it sit a week in storage ($20 a day) before saying it was a total. Then the market price was about $8500 for the one I had at the time. Insurance BSed me and offers $5500. My lawyer fights them for another 4 weeks. I am in a rental car the whole time while the wrecked car is racking up storage fees in dealer lot. In the end I got $6200, lawyer got $1200, rental car cost was $1100, and car storage + towing bill was about $850. TOTAL COST to All State = $9350 I would have been happy if they cut me a check for $8000 the week of the wreck. Insurance is a form of organized criminals that pay protection money to repair shops, lawyers, and rental car firms so they can all work together to rip the public off. I mean come on....people in NOLA who had paid homeowners insurance for over 30 years and lost everything they owned in the world were told "tough shit" by State Farm, Farmers, etc...

It is one of the ultimate scams, Get some lobbyists to get laws passed requiring insurance but no laws requiring insurance companies to either pay or deal fairly with the consumers that pay the premiums. I do alot of contract work for insurance companies supporting thier networks where I get paid a set fee every month to take care of thier systems, I explained it to one of the agents like this,
"I get some guys to lobby for a law saying that if you own a business with a computer network then you have to have a certified computer tech to take care of your stuff, and you have to have a little card that says you have somebody to do this type of work or you get into legal trouble. I charge you a set fee every month and as long as you dont have any problems you dont pay any additional money, but if you have a problem, say a hard drive fails, then I get to sit around for a while figuring out why its really not my responsibility to fix it while during that time you go without a computer network. Then should I be unable to come up with a reason not to fix it and I have to actually perform for the money your paying me, then next month your rate will increase because you've made me work for my money. Now if you continue to have problems I get to dump you cause I'm not making pure profit off of you anymore. And if you get pissed cause I'm charging you more and send me packing I send out a notice to all the other support people and then you get charged an even higher rate by the next guy. And since its a law you have no choice but to pay someone for this service cause if you get caught using your network without your certified network repair guy card you get a ticket and have to go to court and show the judge that you indeed went out and found a person to screw you if your computers break down again." After that he just stood there with a dumbfounded look on his face and couldnt really argue it because I was hitting the nail pretty squarely on the head. ![]() |
