Exclamation cali to fed change???

i have a bad cali ECU and it seams that fed ECU's are easer to come by. I have a few questions here. If i were to swap to a fed ECU what numbers do i need to matce from one ECY to the other? Next what else would i need to do to make a fed ECU work in a Cali car? i have done some searching but the answers seam to be all over the place and go aginst each other. So if you guys and gals have some answers or suggestions please chime in and lets make this work.

Not sure about the whole ECU swapping but why don't you use a cali spec ecu...?

when i take the Cali ecu to maych the numbers at the part store... they cant match it up. so it sams that a fed ECU might be easer to come by.

lets bring this back up again. i found both ECU's but the fed is about $60.00 cheaper. i currently have a 9004.1 – 9205.3 : MD159965 (cail) and i have found that one and a 9004.1 – 9205.3 : MD159966 (fed) for cheeper. Can anyone tell me if this will or wont work and if there is any reson to spend the extra $60.00. please help!!

As far as I know they're a direct swap ... I know I swapped a fed ECU into my cali-spec hybrid car without problems.

Would this eliminate the need for all the o2 sensors? Does this change the car in anyway?? Making it non ob2 anymore?

Oh a hybrid car it eliminates the need for downpipe o2 sensors ... lol, you'll always need your main o2 sensors, that's how the car knows how much fuel to put into the engine.

On an OBDII car, you might be SOL.

all obd2 cars are cali spec, so it wouldn't make any difference . i don't think gen 1 cars had extra sensors. my 92 doesn't. it only has 2. 3sx's website also indicates this. i don't know the difference between the 2 ecu's. one thing i would say is that they don't have a separate diagram for the pinouts on the gen 1 ecu between fed and cali.
