Default Brake Squeal

Okay I've reinstalled my pads twice and my brakes still squal worse than ever. Front ceramic, rear semi-metalic. Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong?

The rear pads had two shims installed initially and I put them both back on when I replaced the pads the first time(I applied brake-quiet gel in between the pads and shims). Does the brake-quiet stuff go btwn the pad and shim, or btwn the back of the shim and brake piston?

I removed the smaller shim to see if that helped, but it did not. Should I continue to use both shims in the rear, or just the larger one that covers the whole pad?

And what about the rubber around the caliper pistons - should I clean or apply lithium grease around those seals?

I use Permatex brake quiet in a spray can and all the shims and I spray the back of the pad and the shims. Have you bed the brakes in? Sometimes the bed in compound on the pads squeal until you burn it away.

Did you just replace pads or did you do anything with the rotors.

I installed new rotors and pads together about 1k miles ago. They seemed fine at first, but have been squeaking for the past 6 months or so. .

you might have to chamfer all the edges of the brake pads. The harsh right angle can make noise.

Is it a good idea to put lithium grease around the rubber seal surrounding the brake piston? That rubber gasket looks a little worn. . I was concerned about spraying brake cleaner on it for fear it would only wear it out faster - thought?

I wouldnt put anything on the boot. Would just attract dust. Best to just spray brake parts cleaner.
