That disconnected y-pipe line went to the boost solenoid, which goes to the wastegates, so if it was disconnected, your wastegates were never opening, allowing the turbos to build boost to their maximum capacity, which I think is either 14 or 18? (Correct me if I'm wrong). So yes, the car will feel slower, because its boosting correctly to stock level, but its no longer running lean and running the risk of piston meltdown, as there are no fuel system upgrades.

Well some more crappy news.

First off the exhaust is ghetto. It's a giant straight pipe welded on to the stock downpipe, and after the pipe it's this weird H-pipe into the dual tips.

Second of all, the little y-pipe thing connected to the BOV inside the intake is missing, which is causing the RPM drop after revving it.

I learned why my turbos are so loud.... both exhaust manifolds have cracks in them. Also when you rev it, smoke pours out of the rear turbo manifold. yay....

I was also driving it today and my clutch started to not disengage again. I adjusted it and bled it and over time it's still getting worse... wtf is the problem? I don't think it's leaking as the fluid level isn't going down.

Could be a loose / dislodged spring in the pressure plate

Ugh I hope not. Don't feel like dropping the tranny atm...

Anyways I'm parking the car until I can get the funds/time to do a full overhaul on it. Current plans are:

60k service (time belt, water pump, oil pump, etc)
Taking headers to get cracks welded, new downpipe, precat delete
Might upgrade turbos if I can confirm the stock ones are burning oil
Replace any sketchy or worn vacuum lines
Fix oil leak
Fresh set of plugs+wires
New K&N intake

Honestly anyone know if it's worth pulling the motor? I heard it's easier to just pull the motor and do the work there than to work on it inside the car.

Sad update

I drove the car for the first time today, and after about 10 minutes of driving I noticed a tapping/knocking sound from the engine bay. I drove home and popped the hood.

It's sounds like lifter tick but louder, and it's not constant. It's barely heard at idle, very loud at 2000rpm, and disappears after that. What could this be? Spun bearing? ...rodknock?

Shoot lets hope not... Take a video of it and post it to youtube for us. Whats your oil pressure show on the garbage gauge in the car? Might be worth just buying a oil pressure gauge from an auto parts store to check it real quick.

Check your oil pan for the dent that can cause spun bearings.

It still could just be you lifters as they are notorious for making all sorts of noise. If the noise is intermittent it worries me though...

Drain your oil and look in it for signs of glitter or metal, use a bright light to see if flakes are in the oil.

Cut your oil filter open and pull the filter apart and look for metal in the filter.

I'm debating whether to sell the car, or throw a newer 4-bolt block in. Depends on how much money ill have in a couple months...

Oil pan looks good. I'll check oil pressure in a couple hours, and tonight ill drain the oil+check filter.

I'm hearing a ton of different things (lifter problems, some mentioned loose timing belt), but in reality it's probably just rod knock. I mean it is an early 91 motor w/ 180k miles lol

Change your oil and cut open your filter before you think it's one thing or another. Be 100% sure, don't assume.
