Default Bought the $3k high mileage VR4 .... pls help

Well shiet.

Preface: Car is a 1991 VR4. 180k miles.

Drove the car and the clutch pedal felt like complete ass. My friend's had exact same issue and we had to bleed it and it was fixed. Clutch literally wasn't disengaging even when floored. I said "quick easy fix " and bought. Dude took $3250 for it (with fancy subs and touch screen radio)

We went to Wally world and got some tools/fluid. Bled clutch, lots of air in system, pedal felt amazing. Leaking a ton of something. Probably oil. Start car up, feels like ass again. Still barely disengages. Said screw it and drove it home.

Was driving in 5th, gassed it and when it hit 2.5k RPM it just shook the whole car really hard. Later I was gassing in 2nd and when I hit 5k RPM I heard a "beep" sound and at 5.5k RPMs it just starting stuttering and breaking up. Thanks car. Apparently the weird beep is the clutch check valve?

When gassing in neutral, it revs up and drops down really hard. If you rev it up high enough, it'll literally almost die. Smells like she's burning oil. Checked Y-Pipe and no oil in it, she's dry. VSS?

Turbo's are stupid loud also, maybe a exhaust or boost leak? The whole exhaust looks custom.

Oh and it's got some fancy blow off valve, and literally inside the hose that connects to it and the intake, was a random piece of hose, partially blocking the BOV. Fun. I can't hear the blow off sound... ?

Whatever. Got a VR4 with mint interior, decent exterior, BBS wheels, and a fancy radio for a little over 3k. I excepted issues, and I got issues :/

For real, help me

Get some pictures of the engine bay, get a video of the issues. It sounds like the motor mounts could be bad and the mass air flow sensor plug is hitting the clutch booster line on the passenger side. BUT that is speculation and a quite common problem.

I will get pics tomorrow, I'll video some stuff but I'm not driving this thing till I get the clutch fixed.

Also I'm confused about the brake/clutch booster. The hose going from intake plenum to brake booster is really badly kinked, and has no check valve? Would this be causing problems?

Also Imma swap the BOV for a stock one and see what happens.

For the clutch, the pedal needs adjusted.

This is for a DSM but works the same on a 3/S

as far as the beep though, there is nothing related to the engine or drivetrain that should or would beep in the car.

Your best bet is to return the car as stock as normal as far as things that can affect how it runs. blow off valve, tuners, etc. and start from there.

Get yourself a boost leak tester and perform a boost leak also. That can resolve a world of issues.

It's not a beep per se but it does sound like one when you have the check valve in backwards. I've done that myself.

You need to pull the ECU and look at the caps.

Ok so the clutch adjustment fixed the clutch problem, however the clutch seems kinda heavy. Clutch booster? It at least shifts fine.

In 1st gear it puts to redline with no issues, but in any other gear it bucks and stumbles.

Where is the check valve for the clutch booster?

Also no CEL is on

These cars have heavy clutch pedal feel when the clutch booster IS working even on stock clutch. Get yourself a bov out of an evo. Its metal, doesn't leak, oem fitment, and pretty cheap.
Do a boost leak test and you'll surely find a ton of issues. Clutch boost check valves leak a lot. I just capped mine off

If this was meant to address the ECU issue, it doesn't matter. Pull the ECU.

Park it for the time being.

Check:

1. ECU like lawdogg said
2. timing belt, tensioner, oil pan, crank pulley
3. spark plugs- at least the front to see the condition
4. find the source of leaking fluid
5. Boost leak/pressure test
