Goddamn this car is quick! And the V-Spec looks even quicker. Hmmmmm..... might not be as easy as I hoped to beat one on a roadcourse with a modded VR4.
BTW, the appeal of the 'ring is that it replicates road conditions on regular roads (i.e. it's not an ultra smooth race track) which is why manufacturers love using it as a test bed. It gives an indication of how fast the car can be in the real world (not that any sane person should attempt pushing that hard on public streets).

The Evo's S-AWC (Super - All Wheel Control) is full time but by no means is it less advanced than the GT-R's. Bear in mind, all the previous ATTESA-ETS (Advanced Total Traction Engineering System for All-Terrain Electronic Torque Split) versions powered the rear wheels and then sent power to the front when needed too, but Evos could still take them on roadcourses. I'd say an Evo with similar power would definitely give the GT-R a run for the money.

Key word is STOCK. This is a stock car that is 3300+ and not an insane amount of power droping hardcore numbers. Im still amazed...actually i take that back...its about Fin time. Cars should be hoving above the ground like in back to the future :P JKIN
Now the ZR1 will be interesting. The c6 Z06 did awesome...so the ZR1 has no choice but to be another insane must have car. man i wish i was Jay Leno...i know whe will have one or each.
What would it take to stick with a GTR in a road course? I'd imagine the upgraded difs from supercar, some very nice coilovers (JICS?), probably a little more power then the GTR, and a nice set up on the suspension?

A stock Z06 on good tires would beat the GTR in its own game. A reg ol freeway race would put the Z06 ahead everytime.
I only mentioned roll racing when talking about raw HP, nothng else.
light to light, not many cars have a hope to touch the GTR.
I may not like the GTR but im not ignorant nor diving into the hype like its some sort of godly car. A reg ol Z51 Vette on good tires with the LS3 would likely go toe-to-toe with the GTR. Add longtubes/intake/tune which runs dead heat with a Z06 would likely beat the GTR.

A stock LS3 vette can do 120mph in the 1/4. A freind of mines dad had an ass stock LS3 Z51 Vette and i forget his time(so i wont pull one of out my ass) ran 118.X in the 1/4 and now with longtubes/intake/tune and good tires is running mid 11's at 124-125 with out even a cam which everyone knows what happens when you cam a LSX engine. Less than 50 into the car so far.
lightly tweaked Z, forget about it.

I don't see anything in those numbers that tell me it's a dog from a roll. Even if it's only 480 horse, the performance numbers speak for themselves.

that may be true.... but its a damn corvette!
like....1 in 15 men above 40 have one
And we drive a damn Mitsu that half of these cars are piles of shit going down the road, and the other half are half finished projects that will likely never be completed and half of that half will likely never see the road again...
Talking shit on a platform in which its performance eclipses our platforms abilities in nearly every single level is stupid.
Buuuuuut, at the end of the day, there isnt one in the sig
Better is not always..better, you know what i mean?

my VR4 out handeled many C5 and a few C6 Vettes on the local autocross last year (NON ZO6's of course), 4WD, 4WS, and ECS makes a difference (this was before it was single turbo'd and still rocking 9B's at 11psi)
i agree about the whole piece of shit platform on the 3/S...
it just really boils down to how much money you got
otherwise...we'd all be driving exotics
