Base GT-R breaks 7:30 on the ring.
GT-R drops 'Ring time down to 7:29 - Autoblog
"With a completely dry track, the base model Godzirra-san wearing stock Japanese-market tires shaved 9 seconds off its previous best time, posting a lap time of 7:29. On that same lap, it leapfrogged the Porsche GT2, Koenigsegg, and SLR 722 GT. Now it's flashing its headlights at the Carrera GT and Pagani Zonda F Clubsport, both about one second up the road."

Insanity - I wouldn't have guessed a GT-R to be faster 'round the ring than a Koenigsegg. Truely amazing car.

Re: Base GT-R breaks 7:30 on the ring.
It doesn't really make sense. I don't care how well the car breaks or handles, it still only has 470hp and weighs 3,900lbs. This thing truly must be the new GODZILLA!

Re: Base GT-R breaks 7:30 on the ring.
Motor trend mag reported that V-spec prototype did it in 7.23min. That's nice. Motor trend website has a series of articles dedicated to GT-R testing.
There are however rumors coming out of Japan already regarding the stock drivetrain. Shops are not sure it'll be able to hold more that 600HP. Something to do with stock double clutch to be the weakest point.
