I definitely thought about that as I first encountered the problem. I was concerned that my wires weren't exactly 1cm apart, even though I thought it unlikely that 1cm vs 2cm vs 3cm would make any difference. After talking with Apex, I did confirm that the pairs of power and ground wires DO need to be separated, with the specified wires closer to the ECU. However, the 1cm is more of a minimum. The Boomslang harness I have separates the wires by 5cm or so, and they deemed that acceptable.
In short, yes, the wiring can make a difference in the behavior of the Neo. However, it isn't causing the current problems, as it's a confirmed programming error in the firmware.

I just sold my used NEO on Ebay for a buy it now of $285, which is a pretty good price in my opinion and I had decent amount of interest too... and it all just went toward a new EMU...

The latest I have is that the engineer in Japan is working on it,and that he needs a reasonable amount of time to develop/test a fix. My take on it is that there probably was minimal/no staffing on this project until a week or so ago, even though the corporate line was "we're working on it".
In any case, "reasonable" time seems to be sometime early- to mid-this-week, and that seems plausible to me. That's for a first version... I have no idea (at this point) how thorough a "first version" that would be. Will let you guys know when I have something more.
I'm certainly weary of the waiting game as well. If there's no fix this week, I'll need some detailed info from Apex as to what the technical difficulties are to prevent my assuming that they aren't actually working on it... again. All I can say is that the engineers and the first-line managers seem to have their heads on straight and genuinely want to get a fix to us - that's the sole thing keeping me from being seriously ticked off right now. I've had enough conversations with the US ops manager to trust him... assuming that the communication channels between Apex USA and Apex HQ in Japan are open, I'm hopeful

Well depending on the direction this whole thing goes, this will probably decide if I go with a Neo or some other piggyback when I get some new turbos this winter. Hope you've scared some sense into them Erik.

Hi there, my name is Daniel, from New Zealand, was wondering if anyone has come across an error with the Neo where the screen changes automatically and all the buttons are disabled? It is actually listed in the manual under troubleshooting, it recommends that the supplier should be contacted, unfortunately I bought the unit from your lovely country so this won't work for me. Does anyone know what the solution is for this problem? Is a new unit required or just a reflash?
