Re: Apex AFC Neo: Confirmed Programming Bug - Karman Function Doesn't Work
I got my check this week. The safc-i is still doing just fine. I saved myself over a hundred bucks and the car is also much happier.
Just for giggles I took the cover off the safc-i before I installed it. Much to my surprise the board inside was built by Futaba. I had abanboned all of their r/c gear many years ago and never once looked back. When it comes time to upgrade the safc-i I'm sure I'll look elsewhere first for a replacement.

I've faxed my refund request and emailed the guy twice and I still have no answer, the NEO is out my car now since about 10 days. Did it take long before they gave you the RMA number ?

The refund option may no longer be on the table - not sure. The new firmware is aupposed to be here. Will post when I get my hands on it - it's been 6 months, so I'll believe in its existence (and correct functionality) when I see it with my own eyes
I hope to have something to report by Saturday. We'll see.

Hmm. Well i finally got around to removing mine and put my stock injectors back in. Figures that is when would come out with the fix. No biggy I guess as I was going to leave it like this until spring anyway.
I'll be just as happy with a fix as a replacement I suppose. I'm going to try and contact them today anyway for the return I guess. Should I call or email? I think saw a phone number somewhere in this thread.

Doesn't matter anyways, I tanked my engine Friday (.72 on the NB).
Took out the ringland on cylinder 6. So I am looking for a replacement.
Depending on how much I throw back I may go tdo5, if I find a decent beater to lug me around town and keep the 93 as a weekend toy.
We'll see how it works out.

Re: Apex AFC Neo: Confirmed Programming Bug - Karman Function Doesn't Work
THE NEW FIRMWARE IS DONE!!!!!!
I have a newly-reflashed Neo in my VR-4 as of noon today. It's version 1.104, and the about 10 minutes of data I've collected so far looks promising. I've done one WOT run so far, and it looks ok. As I only had a few minutes to try things out during lunch, that's all I've got for now. More later, probably tomorrow.
Details:
The car drove ok under all cruise, idle, and light load conditions. I did one WOT run at 6psi (graph below) and things look good. Out of the 11 minutes of conservative driving, the difference between the expected Neo output and the actual Neo output was 0-19%, with an average of 3%. Given the choppiness of the input signal, I expect that those stats will improve once I put a small smoothing filter on the airflow data. This is just preliminary data to make sure things are in the right ballpark. Things look good so far.
In the graph below, the main lines of interest are the ORANGE (input airflow from sensor), the MEDIUM BLUE (AFC Neo Output), and the RED (Expected Output Airflow with -19% global airflow adjustment). Note that the red and the blue lines are pretty darned close to each other. Also, note the peak input airflow value is 1760Hz, which is well into the territory where things got ugly with the original Neo program.
