Re: Apex AFC Neo: Confirmed Programming Bug - Karman Function Doesn't Work
Hey I just signed up for an account I was fowarded here from DSMtuners.com about the Apexi Neo. I have made a post about it where you can download the .PDF file I got from Keith Imoto at Apexi USA.
Please let me know about updates, I can't wait to drive my car, I got to many mods to change over to anything but the AFC.
I noticed in my 1998 Eclipse GSX that I had corrections at -38% to get the car to run and had to advance my base timing to get more power out of the car due to this karman function not working.
At the 1/4 mile track I datalogs of my car running FUNNKY 02s and even .00 because of the AFC. Guess thats what happends when you run C16 and 27PSI

Quote:
NEO reprogramming criteria:
1. Using NEO on Karman sensor car (Mitsubishi and some Toyotas)
2. Last five digits in the serial number is smaller than 13800
(sample serial number: AFC4 UN06-13726)
3. There is no Karman compatibility sticker on the back
Did anyone notice this section... doesnt this imply that they have working versions?
Re: Apex AFC Neo: Confirmed Programming Bug - Karman Function Doesn't Work
As of today, there is no working firmware version available. I'm still hopeful for something this week - we'll see.
Note that the return form referenced in the DSM Tuners forum is (from what I've been told) a pre-release copy of the form (sent to show that Apex is aware of the problem and plans to fix it) and was not intended for public distribution. I will most assuredly post something on this thread as soon as I have something to test, and I will post again once I've actually tested it. Unless you've seen that post, you can assume that the firmware is not yet available.
Re: Apex AFC Neo: Confirmed Programming Bug - Karman Function Doesn't Work
As this is a worldwide problem, and there is no Australian branch of Apex(from what I know), what will happen with my unit? Am I going to be up for rediculous shipping prices? Or do I just go find an SAFC-II?
Re: Apex AFC Neo: Confirmed Programming Bug - Karman Function Doesn't Work
I just picked up an safc-I through craigs list. I really don't see much reason to ever reinstall the Neo. My car already seems to be much happier.
I am not impressed by the fact that Apexi has not posted a warning on their web site. It's also pretty lame that they do not bother to update their documentation regarding the seperation of the power and ground wires. It looks as if Apexi also plans to keep selling the Neo to unsuspecting buyers at least through #13800. I wonder how many unaware Neo/Karman car owners are currently out there driving around on the streets? I know of one less.

UPDATE:
They didn't hit their best-case schedule, so the trend is Monday at this point. That would mean that I'd get the updated version by Tues/Wed a the earliest... so we're probably looking at later in the week for me to be able to test it.
