Coming from the Netherlands I found it odd that most US cars don't have rear fog lights. Every time I see one bright rear red tail light I tell my wife: "''nother idiot that doesn't know that European cars have rear fog lights" and she (Cali native) has no clue what I'm talking about. The reason they are mandatory in EU is so you can see them from further away in heavy fog. It's actually illegal to have them on if you have more than 150 feet visibility, because they are annoying to those behind you.
I haven't seen front fog lights in Europe. Actually wonder if they help at all (brights are bad in fog) or more for the "cool" look. That's probably why most Americans turn them on, because I see them more on than off and there is rarely any fog.

in the US, dumb owners of euro cars pull the headlight switch out all the way and dont realize their rear fogs are on 24/7. And when you get in front and flash your rear fogs, they get offended lol

I would prefer stealthy rear fogs hidden in the RT rear bumpers (reflector/reverse area) but alas, the oem housing does not let light thru as I have tried it. Some 3kgt people have put bright H3s or strobes in their reverse lights which is sweet
I am working on this right now, i am putting in two sets of driving lights that will replace the factory lens, when u put the car in reverse they will come on so u can see real well at night (i have 5% tint on the back and it is hard to see at night). i am also installing a switch so i can turn them on at anytime like for tailgators or people who will not turn off there brights (tow truck dirvers do this all the time).

I think it is a good idea. Extra reverse light and safety light if it is real foggy. Take pics cause now I want to do it too

I've seen it done on other cars where a switch is wired to light up the brake lamp filament at a slightly dimmer than brake light level on the inner driver side tail light bulb.

I'm sure it can be done with a 3S as well.

It should be a required feature on all cars in North America. Volvo, Jaguar, BMW, and Mercedes have them in the US market even though they are not required.

This is kinda what a retrofit would involve but I prefer it only light up the lens behind the driver.

One of the best cars to think of for the rear fog light is a JDM RX8 the rotor shape between the exhuast on the US version is a rear fog over there.
