Default Anyone have experience with KW coilovers?

My car's previous owner put some kind of lowering springs in my car. Every time I go over a hump on the road they make strange noises. I think it's the springs leaving their pearch and then resettling. I want to get coilovers, but I also like to drink my coffee on my morning commute. The springs I have right now aren't too stiff. Anyone have experience with the KW's? How stiff are they on the more compliant settings?

Well I got the KW V3 coilovers on my red 91 VR4 for two years now,
and am happy with it.
It makes the ride a bit harder but gives you a lot better handling than than stock coilovers do while I still use the stock wheels.

Hey Eugene,

how's the progress on this coming along. KW hasn't been cooperating with the company I was trying to work with. I asked them if it's possible to have KW make a set of these for the VR4 with 600lbs/in front springs (as opposed to their regular 400lbs/in fronts in the KW v3's for the 3000GT) and 500 lbs/in rear springs.

KW told the company that they have hardly sold ANY KW kits for the platform here in the US so they weren't too keen on the idea. Although they could potentially fabricate a set, due to not having ANY testing on 3/S's, they wouldn't guarantee how well the setup would be matched for a 3/S.

Will you guys be providing KW with a test car to perform their testing on? And if so, can you convince them to make a set with 600fr/500rear springs and valved to match? 400/300 aren't stiff enough to roadcourse on.

If not, I'll just have to wait to see what Phil has come up with.

Max, why not get a set of Swift springs in the rates you need for the coilovers? Or would that put you beyond what you've budgeted for them.

Exactly. Decent shocks can compensate for a 10 or even 20 percent difference in spring rates. A 50% difference (from the OTS 400lbs/in to the 600lbs/in I want) is a little much.
