Default Any tips on removing wire harness connectors?

Pulled my first 3S engine over the weekend. One of the most frustrating things for me was trying to figure out how to get some of the wiring connectors off. Almost like working puzzles, each one a little different.

For example on the fuel injector connector. How do you remove it without breaking something? I finally decided to use a small screwdriver to move the wire clip out a little, then needle-nose pliers to grab (to avoid dropping the clip into intake).

Problem was, doing it like this broke the little retaining tab. (picture attached).

Any tips?

Dental pics and hemostats work great.

I have never had this problem....... I guess I just ball hard. I would recommend a really small almost sharp flat head I guess. I think you just need a gentler touch.

I do not know what a hemostat is? Maybe Internet search is in order.

Something like a dental pic makes sense, because the problem is that the clip needs to be pulled "up" and "away", (to not break the tab that I did).

I could not pull "up" with a screwdriver, the rocker cover prevented getting an angle on it.

Thanks.

I was very careful on my injector connectors as well, but one or two still broke. I think after 16 years of high underhood temps the plastic just gets old and brittle?

I thought the same thing, I was very careful, but still snapped off the tabs. It did not take much force at all.

I used needle nosed pliers, a paper clip, and patience.

Just break them off and get new ones that are push to remove.
Replacement injector connectors

Great product don't get me wrong but these guys are having a hard enough time removing a simple clip. Now you want them to cut the injector wires, crimp or solder the leads onto the wires and then insert them into the new connector.
