sorry to hear about ur loss. my car was broken into about a year ago. they broke the passenger glass and unlocked my door from the inside. when they opened the door, my factory alarm went off . since my apt is right above my car, my wife woke me up and i ran down to check on it. i didn't see anything at first and thought my alarm was just being screwy. then i looked over and saw the broken glass. there was nothing missing, but they were after my stereo. i called the cops without touching anything. cop comes out and takes my statement.

so my wife and i can't sleep for a while. anyone who's had a burglary or attempted theft knows how stressful it can be. anyways, about 30 minutes go by and i get a call from the cops. they caught the bastards a few blocks away . morons were carrying around other stolen items from other cars.

now i always bring in my faceplate at night or put it inside my glovebox when i leave the car. since i have a cargo cover, u can't see the rest of my equipment.

i personally have an audiovox alarm system and had it all professionally installed for around $400 and that includes the price of the alarm obviously and has a TON of features. It also isn't like the cheap alarm systems that go off when the wind blows and crap like that. It does have the 2 way pager feature w/ up to 1 mile range. It also has an auto arm feature incase you forget to lock it and will even roll the windows up for ya. If someone does get in it disables the ignition completely rendering the car inoperable until disarmed. I also have a nice audio system and live in a not so nice neighborhood and that is mainly why I got the alarm. I have been woken up twice since the alrm was put in due to someone placing their hands on the back window and trying to peer inside to see what is in there to try to take and the alarm went nuts, paged me and it even shows me on the little screen the touched area of the vehicle...since that last time the car hasn't been touched and people know to leave it alone. Hope this helps and sorry if I rambled for a bit.

I will post it when I get home, I am at work now. It wasn't even their high end model either that was like $550 installed and had like GPS tracking crap w/ it incase it somehow was stolen...pretty crazy lol Mine was like their midrange deal but I will be sure to post the exact model.

EDIT: I found it by running a search on their site. It isn't the 100% exact model because they can add features and whatnot but this is the best match.

I have a Viper. Great alarm, very configurable. Add on options as well. Although, the Trunk Monkey would be great...

SmokingVR4 (i think that's his handle) made a killer corner box, but alas, I don't believe he's fabricating any more. ):

and I really wanted one, too.

sorry to hear about the break in.
check out NEVER STOLEN. I'm getting it as I just put $10k into the engine. Hotels/motels are notorious for break in's, especially if you have out of state plates. They know yer leaving. Had a bunch of camera equipment stolen out of my SUV years back. Now, when I go somewhere (as us military types do travel a bit) I ask the clerk if i can park it right in front, usually in the drop off area, just for the night. i've yet to have someone say no after i explain why.
VR4GSM, you said Wing brief, so what part of aviation are you? I work MH-53E's...
