Always Look Left, then Right Before Entering Intersection!
Here is a situation that happened over the weekend.
My mom, dad, pregnant wife, and I were driving home from eating dinner Saturday night. I was driving my pops 2010 Dodge Ram. We came upon a intersection, just like normal, to a red light. The road was three lanes wide and we were in the middle lane and the first car up front. The light turned green and I have a habit of looking left, then right, and usually left again to make sure people are stopping as they should. My pops is a Detective so he embeds all these safety rules in us.
So this time I looked left, right, and left while I slowly started moving forward through our green light. At the corner of my left eye, I noticed this car not slowing down at all. The front end was still balanced and didn't look like they were intending on hitting the brakes. I slammed my brakes and said "OH SHIT" as this car was moving fast to the intersection. Unfortunately, the 2012 Nissan Maxima on the right side of us kept moving. The lady barely passed our front bumper and railed the car to our right.
Overall, the thousand times I looked left, right, and left I have never came across a red light runner. Let's just say this time worked out perfect. My father saved a headache with the insurance companies, none of us were injured, and my pregnant wife and I didn't get clobbered by the car since we were both on the left hand side.
As for the other car, they were fine but definitely shaken. The red light runner tried to lie and say she didn't run the red light. Too bad for her we stayed and gave our testimony.

Possibly. No way to tell at the moment. She was an older lady..probably early 40's and was wearing medical scrubs. When we asked her is she was okay she said yes. My pops told her she ran a red light and she got really mad and said no she did not.
She is in deep shit anyways since her story will not hold up against two eye witnesses along with the victims story.

I agree with this, but unfortunately I have learned the hard way. I was t-boned by a drunk driver back in 2005 who ran a red light just 6 days after I had bought my first VR4. Totaled the car. Won't make that same mistake again.

agree, always look left, right, left, then possibly even right and left again before pulling out, really depends on the intersection, i usually start the process over if i have to wait for a car to go by. Has saved me numerous times, usually from those trying to speed thru a yellow.

could very well be one of the reasons why i've never been hit before. No accidents in 30+ years (with other drivers at least), although twice i've had someone back into the nose of my car and had the occasional problem backing into my own vehicles in the driveway.

Agreed. People really need to drive with a "plan ahead" and "always leave yourself an out" mentality. Riding motorcycles has embedded good drivin habits. Expect the unexpected.
