Default 3000GT's Skidpad and Slalom

Hi everybody

After years of technological developments in cars, can 3000GT compete with the new generations of cars?

Skid pad Slalom
0-2009 Corvette ZR1 1.06g 74.7-mph
1-2009 Nissan GT-R 0.96g 74.0 mph
2-2008 Audi R8 0.98g 71.0 mph
3-2008 Lancer Evo X MR 0.92g 68.9 mph
4-3000GT VR-4 99 .90g 63.7 mph

2009 Nissan GT-R vs. the World Ultimate Performance Car Test

Any ideas how to improve 3000GT's skidpad and slalom speed?

What is the maximum skidpad and slalom speed can the GTO reach with modifications?

Thanks

I don't think your 3000GT numbers are quite right.

Edit: Plus, for lateral G's and slalom, stock tires have a ton to do with it. Tire technology has come a long way in 10 years.

+1 and 3000gt had only 245 tires on it that time and that tires were really narrow for the weight it had. you might be able to beat those cars pretty bad with 275 tire all around and front, rear lsd new SCE's vcu.

Weight reduction, fat, sticky tires, coilover suspension and larger anti-roll bars to eliminate roll and lower the CG, solid or polyurethane bushings all around to eliminate slop, SCE LSDs all around to put power down more effectively, and of course some set up time for alignment and whatnot, and that should get you pretty damn close, or even beat them. As a matter of fact, if you were running R compounds, you'd probably slaughter them.

I hate you. Give me another opportunity to sit there and drool over the Ultima GTR why don't you? It's not like my couple hours a week of doing just that are enough.

Sticky and wide tires will give good skidpad numbers. That, and a good set of LSD's and low weight will give good slalom numbers. With a good set of R-compound tires, and a good setup, our cars should be right up there. The most significant development that allowed the newer cars to show good numbers in standard handling tests are tires. Age is just a number.

Get a good set of coilovers and adjust them properly, and get a set of wider wheels and slap some 265 or 275 wide R-compound tires and you can slaughter those numbers.

I think the highest steady state cornering G's I've heard of from one of our guys is 1.55G's (Phil from SCE). The suspension + tires will help the skidpad, add the new differentials available and tune the suspension and alignment to match and you could annihilate those slalom numbers too (with a good driver of course

Max

***edited to add*** and of course, Phil responds right when I start typing mine out. Phil, that was what you said you hit in the carousel at RA right? ~1.55G?
