hello all, I just finished assembling and installing my new struts into my 3000gt sl.
They are the same stock w/ecs struts, but i'm reusing the old springs.
When I turn my wheel sharply when parked or driving I noticed a very loud sound. I had someone turn the wheel for me while I was looking at my struts and noticed that my springs were actually moving when put under load inside of the strut assembly.

I can't for the life of me figure out what's wrong with them.

Flat tire, question about replacing one tire

Does anyone know the allowed variance between tires so the VCU does not get fried?

I got a flat tire on a fairly new Falken Azenis tire. Tread depth on the remaining 3 tires is between 6-8 / 32.

If I was to replace the one tire, would I be fine, or do I need to consider shaving the new tire?

I've searched but it still isn't quite clear to me if there is difference in strut mounts for my 95 SL with ECS. I look on autoparts sites and all the front mounts say exc. auto adjusting suspension on them. For reference, the part i'm referring to is the assembly with the blue arrow in this pic:

I need to order some soon so I can get tires and an alignment so I don't almost die on the interstate in the rain again.

Ok so i changed the brake pads on my 93 stealth ES about 3 months ago when I was living in Idaho. They squeaked pretty bad but stopped shortly after I came to Oregon for school & then they just stated sticking. So now when I get on the highway at 60 to drive into town there's a shake & I can feel it coming from the left front wheel. I think the squeak could have been my clips that go over & under the pads but is that enough to do all this?
If anyone has anything that could help i'd love to hear it!!!
Thanks

I just had my new brake setup arrive. EBC zinc plated dimpled and slotted rotors, and EBC greenstuff pads. (2000 series I think?) Im not too familiar with brake pads but I know how each set in the front has one pad with a rounded guide/hook piece of some sort. Well the rear only has one pad out of the 4 with this, whereas my front has 2. I dont think its a problem but just wanted to make sure.

Ive got an annoying faint squealing noise coming from around what sounds like the top of the colume/air bag squib.....I seem to have a faint recollection of seeing details of a rework (not a recall) that Mitsubishi did to cure this but I cant seem to find any thing of it again. Anyone know?

Yep, searched and read most of the posts.

I have Ground Control adjustable springs with stock struts, adjustable rear control arms, and +-1.75 bolts in the front struts.

I have the Lifetime Alignment at Firestone.

I took it to the body shop to get the frame bent or straightened, they looked at it and "moved a few things around" but told me I had to take it to a shop with a 4 angle trust machine or something like that.

I have heard of people boring out the bolt holes in their struts to get more range. But I can't find a how-to on it, it's not something I want to mess up. I will try to get the alignment reports posted up soon.

My main concern is the rear toe which is eating my tires bald in 2k miles.

Brake Line Fitting Question: What Size / Type?

Hello, friends.

I need some expert help identifying the brake line sizes / fitting types used on NA 3s brake lines.

I'm working on a custom brake enhancement for my '94 NA Stealth, and I need to get some custom brake lines made to fit new, non-stock brake calipers. I already know what kind of fittings I need for the calipers themselves; but I don't know how to describe the fittings that connect the lines from the calipers to the intermediate strut / suspension point "hand-offs." What are these fittings called? What size are they? They look the same for front and rear lines--are they?

For reference, here's the exact fitting I need to describe--this shot's of the rear brake line connection at the suspension:

Image: http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d75/kta3434j/BrakeQuestion.jpg

Also, would anyone happen to know the factory lengths of the lines for front / rear that run from the suspension and strut points to the calipers?

(I realize I can answer all of these questions myself by simply removing my lines and taking them as examples to the shop that's building my new lines, but it'd be a super PIA--hoping some of our resident experts might know off hand.)

Thanks very much!

Bolt #9 in the picture. The problem that I see is that it is not snugged up, about 1/2 to 3/4 away from holding the bushing to the cradle. I am wondering if I can get some PB blaster above it somehow. Is there a possible area to get some above it so it can drip down in this area? I tried to tighten and loosen last night with a cheater bar and I was afraid that I was going to break the bolt head off, which would not bee too bad because I could put a nut on but would rather correct the problem than band-aid it.

Yet another reason I am trying to get the wife to loosen the purse strings so I can get a compressor and a pneumatic impact gun.

As the title says, when I start-up the car the light comes on for a full second then goes out (sign that ABS is functioning normally according to the manual). However, if I slam on my brakes I do not feel a pulsing of the petal (more of a solid lock feel instead) and my wheels slide leaving a big tire streak on the street. I bought the car with the rotors already replaced with slotted rotors, I see the ABS is hooked up (glancing at the cable to the wheels) and my fluid level is fine. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

Coilovers Tein Vs Megan

Ok it seems soon I'll have a work again (after two years) and this means have again money for the car LOL, first thing to buy are coilovers. I spent last months reading all the thread about suspensions and it seems Megan became a very common choice and heard only good things about them. Anyway right now I've Tein springs and I have always been very happy about them and so I'm thinking about Tein coilovers.
What is your opinion? At last with Tein coilovers I can have also custom springs with softer spring rate while I don't think it can be made with Megan coilovers. Any reason to prefer Megan over Tein (apart the price lol).
Tnx in advance

FOUND- lower control arm bushings

SO as part of my son's VR-4 restoration i had the lower control arms at a machine shop to push out the front bushings and ball joints. I wanted them stripped for painting. Little did we know that mistu didn't make replacment bushings. So it was either buuy aftermarket urathane bushings for $350 a set or buy new control arms. Well since we had already blasted and painted these, plus had new ball joints installed, i didn't want to give up on them. So i went to our local NAPA store and gave the guy the dimensions of the bushing i needed. He had a listing for a pair that was only about a half inch longer than what i needed (Part no 267-3367 for starions and conquests ). so for 22 bucks i bought them. I had the machine shop press them in and then i measured them again. As you can see in the pictures, they didn't need much trimming.....i trimmed them with my grinder...a little at a time. so anyway, the pictures tell the story. Haven't driven it yet, but it should be fine.

Need advice on new ECS struts with Intrax springs

I am currently on ecs struts with Intrax springs, but my front left strut is shot. I was considering coilovers so I could get the exact drop I wanted. However, I am going to be selling my car soon so why spend $500 more that I will never see when I sell it.

My question, will getting new ECS struts and my Intrax springs bring me back up to 4x4 height? I love my drop as is now so I am scared the new struts might raise the car up too much. Anyone make the same swap and happy?

Picture of stance now:

I have a 1995 3000gt VR-4 with an elec. sunroof, It came factory without ECS.

I got some Tein S. springs that I would like to put on there.3sx and many others say the springs are not intended for a 96+ with elec. sunroof, but mine is a 95... has the hybrid ECU still.

I already know my front struts are shot. so I looked at 3sx to see about the KYB replacements and theres no option for a VR-4 non-ecs replacement strut...
KYB GR-2 Stock Replacement Struts (non-ECS)*-*Mitsubishi 3000GT*/*Dodge Stealth Parts (http://www.3sx.com/store/comersus_viewItemBundle.asp?idProduct=1536)

which struts do I buy to be able to put my springs on????

I have a 1995 3000gt VR-4 with an elec. sunroof, It came factory without ECS.

I got some Tein S. springs that I would like to put on there.3sx and many others say the springs are not intended for a 96+ with elec. sunroof, but mine is a 95... has the hybrid ECU still.

I already know my front struts are shot. so I looked at 3sx to see about the KYB replacements and theres no option for a VR-4 non-ecs replacement strut...
