Help me pick a clutch!

So i am pretty sure my clutch is on its way out, or it's a cheap one. I have no clue. It has been funny ever since i got the car at 111k. The previous owner gave me paperwork saying that it was done at 102k, but something is up with it. Grabs too high, slips....just crappy.

HLxDrummer's(Lou's) dad said that he would be interested in putting a clutch and everything in for me. So now that i found someone to do it, I have no clue which clutch to get! I was reading on the NA upgrade bible that any DSM clutch will fit? I was looking at IPS's clutch selection and they seem pretty nice at decent prices, but have no clue on how they are.

Then there's ebay of course which I'm assuming that they're all junk anyway.

Could anyone direct me to a good quality/priced clutch that will last? Preferably a stage 2, nothing crazy!

Thanks to all. :)

Crunching 1st gear

Asking here for a friend since I trust advice here.

Dodge Stealth with 5-speed crunches going into 1st gear when hot. Seems to
shift fine when cold and fluid was changed to Redline but when hot the owner
cannot get the car in 1st gear without crunching, even at dead stop. The
question is, is the problem the clutch or internal to the gearbox.
Originally I was thinking the synchro but now I'm not sure since even moving
the gear lever slow and the car at a standstill crunching occurs. Now I think
it's a clutch not totally disengaging the gearbox from the motor. Same
performance in reverse which sort of tells me 1st and reverse are related like
5th and reverse. All other gears shift fine hot or cold.

Clutch release bearing/trans fork issues!!

I own a '96 3k with 160k and a used trans swap at 140k and a clutch swap at 150k, That being said for the last month or so I have heard a squealing when idling with clutch out(throwout bearing) presumably. On a recent trip I noticed it stalling when pulling up to stoplights if I didn't keep it revved up. After making it back to my house I realized that every time I'd push the clutch in it would drop about 1k rpm's. The squealing noise had gotten considerably worse and when I shut off the car it had a hard time starting almost as if the clutch was only half disengaging, as well as the engine sounding like it had no compression. I then took the car about a half mile up my residential road and when making a 4th to 2nd downshift rounding the corner from a light I heard a pop(bang, clunk) and the clutch pedal stuck to the floor, however the car was still in gear! I happened to be only around the corner from my boss' shop so I pulled it in and after looking at it a little further realized the pedal wasn't stuck, only seemed to be disconnected. My asumption was the throwout bearing went thus causing the clutch not to disengage. When I dropped the tranny I confirmed that the bearing had exploded so to speak. So long story short I bought a new clutch, plate and bearing, and installed it and put it back together. While I had the tranny out I tested the slave by pumping the fork and it shsot fluid out the line so I figured all was a-ok. Nonetheless it is not!

Now, the problem I currently have is there seems to be no resistance on the fork that the slave pushes. I am wondering if maybe there is supposed to be a spring behind the fork and bearing that might have been destroyed when the bearing went and I had no idea should even be there! I am a carpenter by trade but know my way around a wrench pretty well as bargain beaters usually require alot of fixing! This is the first fwd trans I have ever dealt with and thankfully someone postsed a great pulling the trans step by step that really helped when pulling the axels and hubs and shocks and whatnot. If anyone might have an idea of what might be missing or what I need to get back on the road I sure would appreciate any info! Thanks in advance for any and all help! Shawn

Changed slave and still having issues?

Ok so I just got done changing the slave cylinder thinking that this might remedy the fact that I find it hard to get into gear. This did not help at all but while bleeding the slave I did see that the clutch fork that the slave is supposedly pushing isn't actually pushing back on the slave which I think is the whole problem and the reason for my squishy clutch pedal despite the stage3 clutch package. I was able to easily move this fork back and forth while the slave was out (normal?). I also noticed that the master comes out of the firewal a few mm when pushing the clutch in is this normal?

Ok guys thanks in advance,
Bart

Clutch is acting up!!!

Whats up. I've got a problem, wondering if anyone can help? Let me break it down for ya. Got a '91 3kgt/stealth (not sure which one) i'm assuming it was crashed and rebuilt or frankensteined together because all the markings, body panels, etc are 3kgt but the stearing wheel says dodge, and when you look up the VIN it comes up as a stealth (ES i think). Also, it does NOT have any of the SL options, but it DOES have a 3.0 DOHC, and if i'm not mistaken the Base model's have SOHC.

The clutch just started acting up the other day. If i press it too many times or hold it down for too long, it will stay down to the floor but the clutch will still be enganged so i can't shift. Then if i lift the clutch back up with my foot and turn the car off and start driving again a while later it will be back to normal, but will only work for a short ammount of time before it happens again.

My first thought was that the clutch fluid was low, or there was air in the lines (like it wasn't bled properly) but i havn't touched any of that so there should be no reason to bleed the lines. I bought this car with 140k and there is about 160k now, and i've never had any problems like this...it just all of the sudden happend. I have had clutch problems before with other cars, but never anything like this. I went to check the clutch fluid reservoir and could only find one reservoir (which was low) so i added some DOT3 but it didn't help at all. I havn't seen any leaking anywhere (ext. under car or int. on the driver side floor)

The other thing is.... Before i got this car i've always had hondas and hondas have serperate reservoirs for the brake lines and clutch lines, but when i looked under the hood i could only find one reservoir, so i'm just wondering if the brake lines and clutch lines draw fluid from the same reservoir????

Just wondering if anyone can help me out, and ideas? it would be much appreciated. And wondering if it does turn out to be the master/slave cylinder, how much would it cost to fix something like that? I've always done my own work on my cars, but now i have no tools or place to work on it  so it looks like i'll have to pay someone to do it.

Clutch or Tranny

Ok so a few weeks ago my car became very hard to get into gear (ie impossible to get in) After messin around and clutching a bunch I can get it in pretty easily and it will shift from one gear to the next without much issue but when I come to a stop and have to go into first again it once more is an issue. So deciding that the car is in danger I stopped driving it and switched to the gixxer as my DD.

Alil more info.
While the car is off I can get into every gear very easy and very smooth. I had my step dad pump the clutch and I watched the slave move the clutch forks. My clutch is a stage 3 south bend on an N/A motor (givin ya an idea of power lol not a ton) and its still a soft soft pedal and clicks at very specific point when becoming engaged (from the pedal not the bay) the clutch fluid is full I tried to bleed the clutch but the bleeder hex is stripped and I can't unscrew it, still using stock shift cables and stock shifter assembly. Tranny fluid changed during engine rebuild (bout 5k ago)

I don't really have any more info I think I gave everything. What could be the issue causiong me to not be able to get into gear?

Thanks for the help,
Bart
