don't be offended by this, but i take issue with your comments. Maybe you didn't mean them in a condescending way but it comes across that way.
the top needing help up and down is a MAJOR problem on these cars ("NO MECHANICAL PROBLEMS" is therefor a lie). The trunk sensor alone is over 1k. Have you priced the hydraulic unit? Also, needing a transmission is a big problem. My comments are about the SECOND seller... a car DEALER. Not some poor sap who can't speak the language. "engine is good" doesn't mean much to me. Was compression checked? valve spring length/tension. I don't care if I intimidate a car DEALER about a car I planned to drop money on. We are talking about 2 different sellers. Not sure what a "rugged display of knowledge" is. I have hard earned knowledge on these cars from mitsu and ASC also.. would be a shame to toss it out so somebody else can pass a ragged out car off on me.
as far as original owner contacted... i don't care about the original owner, i care about the dealer who posted the ad when I saw it. He chose not to respond, therefore I returned my check to the bank. No problem for me.
