Regulars here know about my recent consideration of an SC300.
Well guys, I decided to keep my GT cause the SC300 for $12K (very low miles) would have required me selling the GT to pay cash for the SC; I never want to finance a depreciating asset like a car.
Anyway, I was all set to buy the high mileage 98 SC300 with 150K miles for $6800 so I could keep my GT It was showroom nice but the guy was being a jacka** and wanted $7200 no matter what. $400 is not a LOT of money but I just did not want to do biz with him cause of his nasty disposition.
Anyway, when I was researching those SCs I went to the dealer to have their service history pulled and apparently I got entered into some database of people looking to buy a used one.
Sooooo....I get a call from another dealer in Houston with a lead.
2000 Lexus SC 400 Black Onyx Coupe. A Lexus SC 400 at Northside Lexus Houston TX
GAWD...I'm in love with this car....the interior is stunning...black leather with wood and slight chorme accents. It will need the 90K service, the nose needs a new paint job to look perfect, and it needs dark tint on the glass.
After all of that with the taxes and such it will cost just under $16K. That's a pretty damn good deal for a car that was around $55K new. Not that I know it will become a historic car but only about 800 total SCs came to the US during the final year in 2000. Of that only 350 were SC400s. I don't know how many of those were tripple black but it has to be a number under 75.
I've gotta calm down and think of this objectively.
What do you think of this car and deal?
