UPDATE:
upon closer inspection lest night after cranking, I found a little bit of oil coming down from my oil cap and when i took it off there was a little bit of smoke (burnt/unburnt gas). There was a faint smell of gas in my oil. Could this just be from too many attempts at cranking or is this blowby indicating bad compression? i'm getting a compression tester tonight.
