Yes, 92rtawd is right. The set gain is the point at which the EBC begins to control boost. However, if you're hitting and holding your target boost, and you're not spiking, who the hell are we to tell you you're doing it wrong.
Correct process is all well and good, but ultimately if the unit is doing what you want it to do, fuck process. If I could get my Profec B to hold the boost I want by rubbing it in mud and throwing it against my wall, I'd do it.
