Default Re: Car and Driver says M3 > GT-R & 911 Turbo

I wrote them some hate mail.

Regardless of the amount of money BMW pays you to print these fabricated tales of their latest industry thwomping (as you have been at least since 1998 when you placed the E36 BMW M3 above the Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4, Toyota Supra Turbo, and Chevy C5 Corvette simply because it "got the most votes"), it is surely not worth the lack of sleep you must get while tossing and turning from the nightmares of Automotive Enthusiast misguidance, falsification, and betrayal.

The fact that you include such elements in your rubric as "Gotta Have It" (or "audacity" as you may remember it from 1998) and "Fun To Drive" leads me to believe that you in fact ARE Mr. Drives-A-Minivan or Ms. Sassy-Single, and you have NO idea who Mr. or Ms. Drives-Competitively-On-The-Weekends-And-Wants-A-Critical-Comparison-of-Supercars. The subjective nature in general of most of the criteria in the rubric makes the entire comparison flawed from the start - you know as well as I do that what you may think handles like an ice cream truck, I not only think is as nimble as Bill Clinton on the hotseat but will also drive circles around you in anything else. Do you honestly think anyone will pick up the M3 over the performance benchmark 911 Turbo, or over the Godzilla sent from Japan to destroy it?

If your intent is to satisfy the waiting room or toilet seat jitters with some useless jibber jabber about how much Mr. Vane-60-year-old-with-too-much-money HAS to have the latest BMW off the boat from Bavaria, then PLEASE adapt a much more fitting title - such as Transportation and Passenger. Leave the Cars and Driving to the people with a vested interest in the concept.

Sincerely,
