Re: Make your own valve spring compressor for $15
Well im all done with my valves and belt/waterpump/pullys change. as far as the toughness of it all, ide say the hardest part was tearing the side apart to put the t-belt on. thanks for all the info and ideas, made the job alot easier! me and my cuz ended up taking the hood off and making a tool with a mix between the first and second versions on here. just a pipe with the "window" area cut wider like the second tool (no leverage, just pushed down on them and used a magnet to grab the keepers. then pushed down on the valve and used sergical snips to put the keepers back in. very fast and easy job. good luck to all the other guys willing to go on this adventure. very good for your experience points!
Edit: Well bad news , after replacing my VSS she smokes more then usual now. i did everything very carefully too, timing is dead on. is there some kind of period of time where they have to "wear in" or something? it dosnt seem like it should but this is my first time replacing VSS.
when i start the car i will have "safe zone" oil pressure. after driving around for about 5 minutes and letting it idle it will drop to around 3 bars from the very bottom of the gauge, under the safe zone. and i know enough for that to not be a good thing. i have not very much smoke at idle but when i take off ill have a trail of blue following me for a minute untill the pressure builds up.
My car is the base model , no turbos. 95 DOHC. using castrol gtx 10w40, Any help would be appreciated. as im kinda confused at the moment. Oh and i did a compression test on all cylinders and they all are exactly the same actually above 155psi a little bit.
