WHOA WHOA WHOA!!!!!!!!!!! Is that the new 3rd gear ring I see in that pic? If so, then it looks like it is one of the brass bodied rings. If the inside of that ring is also brass with machined grooves in it, then it will not last you more than 3 months tops. You will be lucky that it works at all to tell you the truth. I would not use that style ring if I were you.

If it has the brown fiberous friction material on the inside, then that is the old style ring. It will work and work for a long time if it is in good shape. But they are not as durable as the steel rings with a sintered bronze friction material on the inside. Where did you buy that ring from?
