Default Re: Stock timer on Automatic

Yep, my SL does it too. Who knows why, but the car won't shift into third until it reaches a certain temperature (not sure if it looks at coolant temp. or transmission temp.).

One time in the Winter my car was doing this longer than normal and I was on the highway coming home (90 minute trip) and didn't feel like driving the car home at like 3500 RPMs the entire way while eating gas and heating up the transmission and I figured a sensor was lose/bad but the tranny ended up being a little low on fluid so there is another reason it may do it just for future reference.

Another time my car did it also (same situation) and I checked the fluid and it was fine, but it kept on doing it and it ended up being bad battery grounds (also causing starting problems-did the click click start thing or didn't start at all).

Not trying to be random, just some FYI.
