Re: What's your opinion ( Read )
$200?? That's a deal and a half. What is $200 if you ponied up thousands upon thousands of dollars for a brand new transaxle from Mitsu? I know those things are horribly, horribly expensive, assuming AWD Getrag. I'm sure the N/A transaxles aren't exactly cheap either.
I don't understand how the decision to not go through with the re-install makes any kind of sound financial sense. No one(shop), in their right mind, will do that work for $200. It would be foolish to not accept this offer as it is going to cost much, much more to go elsewhere and start all over....and pray they know what they're doing.
The labor side of this is cut and dry. If I buy a fuel pump on ebay and have IPS install it, and then it falls apart the next day in the tank....does IPS owe me a new fuel pump, plus all labor to install a new one, etc.? Of course not, they didn't manufacture the pump. All they did was install it. My beef would be with whoever made the pump. Same concept here with the transaxle, your complaint should be addressed to Mitsu.
Even better I used to have a Yukon Denali. Something was wrong with the rear tail light. It kept eating them like candy, literally like one a week. The replacements were $90+ each, which piled up quickly. I bought from the dealership every time, no knock off stuff. After the 2nd one I started raising hell with the dealership wanting to be comp'd out for the tail light. Guess what they told me? Talk to GM corporate, we don't make the part. I never got a dime out of it in the end...
