Background info:

Tranny was purchased directly from Mitsu and once fully installed it wouldnt stay in 5th gear. We got it back in and checked absolutely everything as it is pretty rare that a brand new Mitsu part is defective. Checked the Master/Slave and the clutch looked great while it was out. Spent multiple hours making 1000% sure that everything was done correctly on our end then called Mitsubishi. Even with the level of business we do with them (We are in the top 5 in total business each month behind a few very large body shops in Columbus) they said they wouldnt cover a penny towards labor. We argued and pleaded and tried to make deals but nothing changed. Sucks but it is what it is.

Best example I can think of is Tiki's car on here. His aftermarket water pump separated while driving and killed 10+ valves and shredded the T-belt and caused roughly $2000 worth of damage all said and done. Had that been a Mitsubishi pump failure he would have been out every penny since they dont warranty anything but the part itself. Since it was an aftermarket company located here in Columubus, we got 85% of the bill (Parts and Labor) covered for him.

Now, am I saying not to use Mitsubishi parts? Of course not. However, you need to understand going in that if something does fail and it needs replaced or it destroys something else which destroys something else nothing is going to be covered by them except the actual part (Think Matt M. @ Dynamic Racing's Mitsu Oil Pump failure that caused $20K+ worth of damage to the engine and not a penny of which was covered). This is true of 99% of the companies we deal with. Exedy, RPS, Spec, and probably every clutch manufacturer on the planet. Machine shops or engine builders. Distributors of JDM take-out engines. Turbo builders / distributors. I honestly don't know if I can think of a single exception except this water pump company here and I wouldnt have believed that one had it not happened to us.

It is the way this industry works. The "Shop" warranty ALWAYS falls back on whatever warranty the part manufacturer or distributor extends if there is a problem with a defective part -- or atleast that is what that this sign says I have hanging on the wall
