It seems to me that it's about a 50/50 mix as to rather an ebay downpipe fits well. I've talked to some people that have had them bolt right up with absolutely no problems at all and then I've talked to some other people that have said that they've had to actually cut them and then re-weld them to get them to fit.

As far as replacing the flex section, I'd talk to a couple of other shops, I'd suspect it to be more in the 100 dollar range. This is a pretty common repair as many people have the flex section rust out over time.
