It appears to be a hit or miss.. Its worth a try. Both maf's i took apart they both had their honeycombs glued in. It takes patience to get them out intact.

Update:

I removed all the honeycombs from another maf and it datalogged 38ish Hz. Where normal warm idle is around 50Hz. In other words it idled like shit. Its my belief that the difference in the depth of the honeycombs attributes the increased air velocity on the sides of the sensor. Those thick honeycombs on the bottom and sides allow more air to go threw the middle port.

I am going to try it again with the bottom comb left intact.
