Is it possible the brake piston is stuck and not retracting? On a brand new metallic or semi-metallic pad, this sounds like a reasonable explanation.

Or......

Did the small metal pice on the side of the pad get bent toward the rotor? It's the piece that squels when your pads are getting low. You might see rotor scarring if this is the case.
