I think what you said was pretty uncalled for...

Jack - I did not mean it to sound like a stab at you. I have heard nothing but good things about you and your shop. I actually misunderstood this post here.

Better safe, than sorry. The shop is now charging me $15/day storage since it is taking longer now. But Jack was helpful and agreed to pay the storage fees. Good business ethics... I would recommend his shop. Update still coming...

The highlighted section confussed me. I thought fk86 was saying that the shop in Houston rebuilt his tranny and THEY, not you guys, still had problems with it and THEN he sent it to you like he should have in the first place. Now that I read the post more carefully I see that all that the Houston shop did was remove the tranny to be shipped to you guys. So my responce was actually reffering to some one who didn't even open the tranny up in the first place.

It was a stab at the Houston shop that I THOUGHT messed up a tranny rebuild, but not even they deserve such a comment because they never touched it. So I appologize to you and the Houston shop for the misunderstanding.
Actually, sinse you caught the problem before it got shipped out to the customer, I say that is top notch!

I don't have a sophiscated testing rig like you guys do but I always check my rebuilds as best I can before taking them off of the work bench. From my days at the dealerships, they always said verifying the repair is the single most important thing you can do. It is a sign of professionalism and thoroughness.
So what did you find wrong with reverse anyway? I had one tranny with a bad grind going into 3rd once. Everything looked good, the ring did not bottom out on the cone, the friction material was good, dogs good, ring and sleeve wasn't warped, rails good, synchro springs good. Evenchually I desided to replace the ring anyways, and all was good. That was the one and only time I ever had a situation like that on any tranny.
