The ones we use are steel with a bronze friction surface in the center. They are the latest version of the rings from Japan. The all brass synchros do not expand so I have no clue what you are talking about there. We used to use all brass synchros in all of our DSM and 3S trannies a few years ago and as long as they were from Japan, they were excellent. We now use all bronze synchros in the DSMs and the steel unit with bronze friction centers in the 3S. I don't know why you think we don't use the latest and greatest stuff :shrug:
