Gotcha. If he bought adapter plates then he basically had to assemble his own kit.
I bought an IPS kit for my 8:1 motor (AWD). The kit included manifolds, 02 housings, oil feed/return lines, gaskets, internal wastegates, and turbos. I also purchased the IPS intercooler adapters - not part of the kit, but available through IPS. Coolant lines (which not everyone runs) were assembled by me for about $75 in -AN parts.
There was definitely a lot less modification required on my end. I was able to retain AC, and I did not need to move the powesteering cooler.
