My old engine was already burning a lot of oil and I did no want to rebilt it so I did some research on the 3.5L Pajero, the engine alone was $ 1399 plus $340 for shipping and $300 for install. So around $2040. I also considered doing a TT swap but the engine alone was at least $1800 for a Gen 1 plus cost of shipping, install and all the accessories like intercooler with pipes, oil cooler, ECU and other lines and hoses. I decided on the 3.5L because I did not had a lot of money to go TT and I needed my car soon for school and work.

If you are planning on doing something similar, go for it, either way you won't regret it.
