Yea that is pretty weird, nothing directly related to doing the clutch or crank pulley should be able to cause a starting issue. The crank angle sensor is near the crank pulley, the only thing I can think of is if the crank pulley failed cut the wire to the crank sensor, or caused the belt to cut the wire to the crank sensor. That would definitely cause no spark or intermittent spark.
I'd just test the sensors with a multimeter before replacing them, its sometimes easier to just swap them if you have spares, but its definitely not easier if you have to buy new sensors.
