Default Re: 94 TT - AWD 6spd - Won't go into reverse

You will have to pull your tranny to do any work on it at all. I know from experience that this won't be a fun job, since you'll have to pull your transfer case too, which also means disconnecting your driveshaft. Sounds fun, huh? I thought so last fall, too.

And I agree that there must be something in our trannys that are keeping it from even engaging. Chipped tooth? Possible, but I don't think so since it feels more like there is something actually blocking the way. Most times a chipped gear will engage, just slip on every rotation it makes, creating a very notieable jerk every time it goes over the missing tooth and catches the next one. I'm thinking that it's something more along the lines of the slider itself catching on something just before it gets to the gear since we can't even get it to engage, gringing or otherwise. And revving to try and rev-match the gears doesn't do anything either.

I would just advise sending it in to Kormex since they know more about these trannys than anyone else I know. Or you could wait for Phillip over at Supercar Engineering to finish his dogbox (please note that many don't recommend this for a street car).
